I had temporarily forgotten about my portrait project but got it restarted the other day when I met 2 friends that were visiting Ireland for different voluntary projects. I’ve been a bit lazy about it so it’ll be a while before it all comes together properly but the idea is unfolding into something much better than I had hoped.
While I’m on the subject, I took another of myself in February when I got my fringe cut back in and I quite like it so yes, here it is.

Today in photos, because the light at home has been lovely all day..
I’m a brunette again after 2 years of being blonde - I’m still not sure about it but I’ll keep it like this for the foreseeable future.. When I was done being a bit narcissistic I did the first half of a big clear out and put some things I’d forgotten about around the apartment, including an amazing picture of Mam and Nana when they were younger at the Puck fair, I went through some of their old records for a bit - I’m not exaggerating when I say that every last one of them are full to the brim of cheesy showband goodness.. I also got a really lovely letter from Nikki (Thank you so much! I’ll write back this weekend) which I read while sitting on the balcony and looking out at this amazing sunset..
I’ve been quite busy this week and it’s looking like it’ll continue into the next one so it was really nice to have a day of nothing before it starts up again..

I’ve recently started working with a volunteer organisation and I’m surrounded with the most charismatic, warm hearted and just all round lovely people. It got me thinking about the people I’ve met in the last few years through volunteering and how I wish I’d taken their photograph along the way.
As well as the people I’ll meet and work with over the next few years, I’m going to make more of an effort to photograph my family and friends because although I don’t have much of an immediate family outside of my 2 brothers and sister, I’ve got so many amazing people in my life that have helped me through a crappy youth and are still making my life better by being there as the extended family I’ve never really had.
So, long story short, I started a portrait project yesterday of the people in my life and I thought I’d start it off with a self portrait..
Edit: I just noticed you can just about see my scar on my forehead in this one.. It was my first scar and I got it because I fell asleep in church when I was 6, hit my head off the pew in front and shouted so loud the priest stopped the service until my Mam (who was laughing out of embarrassment) took me outside.. 17 years later and it’s still a running joke to my brothers..

I’m a little bit tipsy and for the first time this week I’m feeling pretty good about turning 23 so we’re heading out for some drinks to see off the last few hours of 22..
This year’s shaping up to be a good one :)
